Types of batteries are used in Electric vehicles (EVs)

 There are many types of batteries used in Electric vehicles. These include lead-acid batteries, nickel metal hydride and lithium ion batteries.

Lead-acid batteries

Lead-acid batteries are the oldest type of battery and they were used in cars until the 1970s when they were replaced by nickel metal hydride batteries which had a higher energy density than lead-acid.

Lead-acid batteries are the oldest type of battery, dating back to 1859 when French scientist Gaston Planté invented them. These batteries use lead plates as electrodes and sulfuric acid as electrolyte. The plates are made from lead or lead oxide, which is a soft, malleable substance that can be molded into shapes with high electrical resistivity (the ability to store electricity). This makes it possible for the plates to be shaped into small cylindrical shapes called cells or modules. Each cell is connected together in series, forming a battery pack with several cells that produce an electric current when they're connected together through an external circuit.

Lithium Ion Batteries

In recent years, lithium-ion batteries have become popular because they have high power density and can be charged quickly. The most common type is the lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cell, which is made from a mixture of lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) and graphite electrodes with an electrolyte solution between them. This makes them lighter than other batteries but also more expensive to produce, although this has been improving over time.

Lithium ion (Li+) ion batteries use lithium ions as their charge carriers instead of electrons as in conventional alkaline cells. Li+ ions are found in all solids except gases such as helium (He) or neon (Ne). They are produced by nuclear reactions between neutrons and protons during fission inside nuclear reactors or by fusion reactions inside stars such as our sun where hydrogen nuclei fuse together to form helium nuclei
